Car Strikes Elderly Pedestrian on Main Street Outside Walmart Store

 
HESPERIA, CA (January 16, 2024) – An elderly man was hospitalized in a pedestrian accident on Main Street in Hesperia Thursday afternoon on January 11.
 
The accident happened around 1:40 p.m. outside the Walmart store in the 13400 block of Main Street. According to the Hesperia Police Department, a gray Toyota Corolla was traveling south towards the Walmart when it attempted to make a right turn in front of the store. It then struck the elderly pedestrian while navigating the store’s parking lot.
 
The impact knocked the pedestrian to the ground, with the shopping cart subsequently falling on top of him.
 
First responders rushed the man to Desert Valley Medical Center for treatment.
 
He was reported to be alert and responsive before being transferred, with emergency personnel taking precautionary measures by securing him in a neck brace.
 
The driver remained at the scene and fully cooperated with the officials.
 
At this time, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor. An investigation is underway.
