Distracted Driver Causes Rear-End Accident on Highway 1 in Santa Cruz

 
SANTA CRUZ, CA (April 22, 2022) – A driver sustained injuries following a rear-end accident on Highway 1 on Wednesday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on April 20. A truck driver was reportedly operating a handheld device while driving. A short time later, the truck slammed into the rear of a van near Watsonville.
 
Emergency crews rendered aid to the truck driver after they suffered minor injuries. However, it is unknown whether the driver of the van suffered injuries.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
