1 Killed, Vehicle Crashes off Bridge near 5 Freeway in Boyle Heights

 
BOYLE HEIGHTS, CA (March 27, 2023) — A driver died after a car crashed off a bridge and landed on its roof near the 5 Freeway and Whittier Boulevard.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal car accident happened Sunday around 1:20 a.m. Under unclear circumstances, two vehicles collided on the roadway above the 5 Freeway, sending one of the vehicles off the bridge and onto the freeway below where it landed on its roof.
 
A man trapped inside the wreckage was later freed with the Jaws of Life. However, the man in that dark-colored BMW coupe passed away at the scene. Officials have not released the man’s name.
 
Authorities did not say if anyone else suffered injuries in the crash, but an investigation into the crash should confirm more details.
