Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Vehicle on 10 Freeway in Redlands

 
REDLANDS, CA (June 25, 2023) – Deven Rico was hit and killed by a vehicle in Redlands Friday evening on June 16.
 
The fatal accident happened around 9:35 p.m. on westbound 10 Freeway at Alabama Street. According to the Redlands Police Department, a vehicle collided with a guard rail along Industrial Park Avenue, causing it to roll over.
 
After the crash, witnesses saw two people get out of the vehicle and run north toward the freeway.
 
While running from the crash site, a vehicle struck Rico on the freeway on-ramp.
 
Rico suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was a 25-year-old San Bernardino resident, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner’s Division.
 
It is unknown if the other person involved in the initial crash was hurt.
 
The CHP is still investigating the fatality.
