Deputy Strikes, Kills Pedestrian on Franklin Boulevard

 
ELK GROVE, CA (November 1, 2021) — A deputy hit and killed a pedestrian on Franklin Boulevard near Percheron Drive Thursday night.
 
According to a press release, the fatal incident happened around 10:45 p.m. during foggy weather conditions. For unknown reasons, a pedestrian was standing in the middle of the road with his or her back turned to an oncoming Sacramento County Sheriff’s Patrol vehicle.
 
Subsequently, the deputy from the Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center piloting the car struck the pedestrian.
 
Shortly after, paramedics arrived as the deputy tried rendering life-saving efforts. However, subsequent aid fell short and the victim died Friday afternoon.
 
At this time, the California Highway Patrol and the Sheriff’s Office will be looking into the factors that played a role in this accident. Thus, any witnesses with information should contact the department.
