SANTA ROSA, CA (September 13, 2022) – Police arrested Charles Bernhardy on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run after striking a motorcyclist in Santa Rosa Tuesday on September 6.
The crash happened shortly before 9:00 a.m. on Fountaingrove Parkway just east of Sedgemoore Drive. According to the Santa Rosa Police Department, the 37-year-old suspect from Santa Rosa was driving a Chevrolet Silverado when he struck a TM Racing 450 FI motorcycle.
The motorcyclist, a 23-year-old Santa Rosa man, fell off the bike. First responders took him to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, the motorcycle got lodged under the Silverado and was dragged two miles from the scene.
Bernhardy continued driving and struck a Honda Accord as its driver turned right onto Sedgemoore Drive. The Honda sustained minor damage.
