Helicopter Carrying Personnel Fighting the Fairview Fire Crashes near Banning Municipal Airport

 
BANNING, CA (September 13, 2022) – Three people were hurt in a helicopter crash near Banning Municipal Airport on Saturday afternoon, September 10.
 
Just before 4:00 p.m., the aircraft, a Bell 206 helicopter, carrying personnel fighting the Fairview Fire near Hemet crashed in a residential backyard while approaching the airport to land.
 
The three crew members, a pilot and two fire personnel, sustained moderate injuries. Rescuers took all three of them to a local trauma center for evaluation and treatment.
 
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.
