Lanes Blocked after Big Rig Rollover Accident on Highway 80 in Vallejo
VALLEJO, CA (February 22, 2021) – A big rig overturned following an accident on Highway 80, Friday morning.
According to the Vallejo Fire Department, the incident happened at about 8:30 a.m. A white BMW SUV lost control and hit the center divider of the freeway.
The impact of the collision caused the SUV to bounce off the center divider, hitting the driver’s side of a semi-truck at the Redwood Parkway off-ramp. Then, the big rig overturned near the 400 block of Admiral Callaghan Drive.
Responders issued a Sig-alert at 8:42 a.m. for the eastbound lanes of the freeway. As per reports, the collision blocked the No. 1 and No. 3 lanes until late afternoon.
The driver of the semi-truck complained of dizziness after the collision. Meanwhile, the two occupants of the SUV did not sustain injuries.
The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the accident.
