Cyclist Among Hit Dies in Hit-and-Run Crash near Springdale Street in Huntington Beach

 
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (September 12, 2023) — A bicyclist killed in a hit-and-run accident near Springdale Street and Heil Avenue was among two people hit.
 
According to the Huntington Beach Police Department, the hit-and-run happened around 10:45 p.m. Sunday. For an unknown reason, a car, believed to be a black Toyota four-door sedan, nearly sideswiped a bicyclist around 10:00 p.m. However, the driver left Edward Street and Brad Drive but struck another bicyclist near Heil Avenue and Springdale Street.
 
Tragically, the bicyclist in the second crash suffered fatal injuries. Nearly 15 minutes later, police received a third call about a cyclist who, although rattled from the encounter, survived after being hit by possibly the same vehicle.
 
Authorities do not know why the suspect led this hit-and-run streak. Therefore, they need witnesses’ help to find the Toyota sedan and the driver responsible. If anyone has more information, please call HBPD at 714-960-8811.
