Bicyclist Sustained Serious Injuries in Traffic Accident on Sports Arena Boulevard near West Point Loma Boulevard
SAN DIEGO, CA (December 12, 2022) — A bicyclist suffered injuries after a traffic accident on Sports Arena Boulevard on Thursday, December 8.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the collision happened at around 5:45 a.m. on Sports Arena Boulevard.
A 44-year-old man on a bicycle tried to cross Sports Arena Boulevard in a crosswalk against a no-walk crossing signal. At the same time, a 60-year-old driving Toyota Tacoma turned left from West Point Loma Boulevard and hit the bicyclist.
First responders rushed the bicyclist to a hospital. He sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Officials determined alcohol did not play a role in the crash.
The SDPD’s Traffic Investigation Unit handles the ongoing investigation of the collision.
