At Least One Dead in Gaviota Two-Car Accident on Highway 101

 
GAVIOTA, CA (May 4, 2021) — At least one person died in a two-car crash on Highway 101 near Nojoqui Summit Monday morning.
 
According to news reports, the fatal accident happened around 7:30 a.m. Under unclear circumstances, an older model pickup truck crashed into another vehicle near Gaviota.
 
Soon after, authorities and Santa Barbara County Fire responded to perform a minor extrication for a patient trapped in one of the cars. As a result, one person died in the accident. However, reports detailed no information on the fatality.
 
At this time, investigators have not confirmed the ultimate cause of the crash. Although, they stated that heavy traffic and dense fog were present at the time.
