Passenger Dies after Fiery Crash Involving Big Rig in Lucerne Valley

 
LUCERNE VALLEY, CA (November 13, 2022) – Antoinette Ortiz was killed in a car accident on Highway 247 in Lucerne Valley Monday evening on November 7.
 
The accident happened around 8:30 p.m. at Holmes Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a big rig and another vehicle collided for unknown reasons. The impact caused the big rig to overturn and catch fire.
 
When officers arrived, they found Ortiz suffering from significant injuries.
 
Life-saving measures were performed but Ortiz died at the scene. She was 38 years old from San Leandro and a passenger in one of the vehicles.
 
A male patient sustained a head injury and was bleeding near the eye.
 
The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
