Anthony Carreon Detained in Police Chase Crash near 5 Freeway and Lyons Avenue
SANTA CLARITA, CA (July 28, 2023) — Anthony Carreon faces charges in a police chase accident near the 5 Freeway and Lyons Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the high-speed pursuit happened around 8:33 a.m. Tuesday.
For speed-related reasons, CHP tried to initiate a traffic stop on a Dodge Challenger. However, the driver sped off leading officers on a chase.
At the Lyons Avenue exit, however, CHP Newhall units deployed a spike strip. However, the driver subsequently swerved to the right to avoid it but struck a Toyota RAV4 driven by a 75-year-old woman. Due to the impact, the woman’s car crashed into a pole and caught fire.
As a result, the woman suffered moderate injuries in the accident. As for the suspects, they attempted to flee on foot, but officers arrested them shortly after.
Police arrested 20-year-old Anthony Carreon for being in possession of a stolen vehicle, hit-and-run and other charges.
