Family Says Bicyclist Involved in DUI Crash in Santa Rosa May not Survive
SANTA ROSA, CA (October 15, 2021) – Allen Miller suffered critical injuries after a DUI crash in Santa Rosa late Wednesday night last week, October 6.
The crash happened around 11:00 p.m. along Stony Point Road just north of Todd Road. According to the CHP, the 47-year-old victim from Santa Rosa was riding his bicycle southbound in the middle of both lanes when a Kia approached from the opposite direction.
Miller then crossed into the opposite lane and collided with the Kia.
The impact caused Miller life-threatening injuries. Paramedics took him to Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital’s, where he remains on life support. His mother told officers that he is in a vegetative state and may not survive.
Miller was carrying unspecified drugs when authorities found him, but they have not determined if he was under the influence. Miller’s mother said the only drugs she knew her son used were anti-seizure medicine.
Meanwhile, police arrested the driver of the Kia, 31-year-old Rudy Rivera-Martinez of Santa Rosa, on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. They booked him into Sonoma County Jail.
The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.
