Alexander Marce Dies, Francisco Garcia-Vargas Detained in DUI Motorcycle Crash at Orangethorpe Avenue and Gilbert Street
FULLERTON, CA (June 17, 2024) — Alexander Marce died in a DUI motorcycle accident Wednesday night at Orangethorpe Avenue and Gilbert Street.
According to the Orange County District Attorney, 44-year-old Francisco Garcia-Vargas drove his 1999 BMW 323i through a red traffic light at speeds of over 100 miles per hour. Subsequently, he struck 28-year-old Alexander Marce who was stopped at the red light on his black 2019 Harley-Davidson.
Upon impact, Marce flew off the bike and landed on the road while Garcia-Vargas drove about a hundred yards with the Harley still trapped underneath his BMW.
Shortly after, Fullerton Police responded, finding Good Samaritans holding Garcia-Vargas down so he could not flee the scene.
Officers determined he had a blood alcohol level almost three times the legal limit and arrested him on three felony charges, including DUI causing injury.
As for Marce, he died from his injuries at the scene.
