DUI Crash on 80 Freeway in Roseville Kills Child
ROSEVILLE, CA (January 13, 2025) – A 9-year-old girl was killed in a DUI crash on 80 Freeway in Roseville Saturday morning on January 11.
The fatal crash happened around 5:20 a.m. near Riverside Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 36-year-old Sacramento woman was driving a Hyundai Elantra when she suddenly lost control of her vehicle and spun out. That cause the car to be disabled in the fast lane.
The woman got out of the car and started walking along the shoulder.
Many cars swerved around the disabled Hyundai but a 50-year-old Fremont man driving a Honda CR-V was unable to avoid hitting it.
There were two children in the Honda, including the 9-year-old victim.
That child suffered major injuries and later died at Sutter Roseville Medical Center.
The woman who left her Hyundai on the freeway was approached by officers on the freeway. She was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
An investigation is underway.
