8 People Hospitalized in Car Crash on Highway 1 in Lompoc

 
LOMPOC, CA (September 19, 2022) — Eight people, including children, were injured in a car accident on Highway 1 at Santa Lucia Canyon Road Friday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle collision happened around 9:24 a.m. For unknown reasons, an eastbound minivan occupied by several children veered into the path of a southbound sedan on Highway 1 at Saint Lucia Canyon Road.
 
As a result, the oncoming vehicle broadsided the minivan on its left side.
 
Soon after, paramedics responded to the scene and transported eight people to Marian Regional Medical Center, Lompoc Valley Medical Center and Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
 
Of the eight patients, three of them were children in critical condition and an infant was reportedly ejected from the minivan. Also among those injured were two women.
 
While four people sustained moderate injuries, one person sustained minor injuries.
