Elderly Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Accident on Laurel Drive at Granada Avenue in Salinas

 
SALINAS, CA (October 25, 2021) – Police confirmed that a 78-year-old man died in a pedestrian accident on Laurel Drive on October 22.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Granada Avenue around 3:35 PM.
 
Based on an initial report, the man was walking in the crosswalk at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, a red Toyota Prius came and struck him.
 
As a result, the victim died in the incident. Officials did not yet release the name of the victim pending kin notification.
 
Also, police have set up road closure in nearby streets to give way to a clearing operation.
 
Afterward, investigators said the driver stayed at the scene to cooperate with the police. Officers said drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been a factor in the crash. At this point, the Salinas Police Department is still investigating the case.
