73-year-old Franklin Robinson Killed in Multi-Car Crash on Sheep Creek Road at Phelan Road

 
PHELAN, CA (January 10, 2023) — Franklin Robinson died in a multi-car accident on Sheep Creek Road at Phelan Road Monday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the three-vehicle crash happened around 7:29 a.m. on January 9.
 
Authorities learned that 73-year-old Franklin J. Robinson was stopped at a red traffic light behind a 2022 Freightliner Cascadia Walmart semi-truck. For unknown reasons, a 22-year-old driver of a 2011 Mazda CX-7, who was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt, approached both vehicles from behind. However, the Mazda driver failed to stop behind Robinson’s Nissan Frontier and rear-ended the Nissan, propelling the Nissan into the rear of the Wal-Mart truck in front of it.
 
Shortly after, emergency personnel reached the scene to perform life-saving efforts on Robinson; however, despite these efforts, the Phelan man died later at a nearby hospital. His 8-year-old grandson was taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center with unknown injuries.
 
As for the Mazda driver and 50-year-old Colton man piloting the semi-truck, they reported no injuries.
