66-Year-Old Yia Vang, 81-Year-Old Mai Yang Vang Die in Single-Car Crash on Clovis Avenue near Butler Avenue

 
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (March 22, 2024) — Yia Vang died in a single-car crash on Clovis Avenue near Butler Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal single-car crash happened around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. For an unknown reason, 66-year-old Yia Vang lost control of her vehicle on Clovis Avenue as she veered toward the right portion of the lane to pass another car. Subsequently, her white SUV struck a crosswalk post, a fence and a brick pillar.
 
Minutes later, paramedics arrived and confirmed one fatality — 81-year-old Mai Yang Vang of Fresno passed away at the scene. Authorities determined that she was a passenger in the SUV. Meanwhile, emergency personnel rushed Yia Vang to Community Regional Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries.
 
According to an investigation, authorities do not believe impairment factored into the cause. However, the case remains under investigation.
