Hit-and-Run Crash on North Coast Highway 101 in Encinitas Leaves Pedestrian Dead

 
ENCINITAS, CA (January 21, 2025) – A 66-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash on North Coast Highway 101 in Encinitas Sunday night on January 19.
 
According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Station, a light-colored SUV struck the woman in the 900 block of North Coast Highway 101 around 6:52 p.m.
 
After the crash, the driver of the SUV immediately fled the scene.
 
First responders rushed the woman to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
 
At this time, the woman’s identity was not immediately available.
 
It was unknown whether the driver was impaired by drugs or alcohol.
 
An investigation is underay. Authorities urged witnesses to call investigators at 858-565-5200 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-847.
