Woman Hospitalized in Hillcrest Pedestrian Crash on University Avenue
HILLCREST, CA (September 4, 2024) — A woman sustained life-threatening injuries in a pedestrian accident on University Avenue near Fifth Avenue.
According to San Diego Police officers, the pedestrian accident happened around 10:30 p.m. Sunday. For an unknown reason, the woman was lying in the westbound No. 2 lane of University Avenue when a Jeep Wrangler ran over her. Subsequently, the 49-year-old Jeep driver stopped the car until San Diego Fire-Rescue crews arrived.
Upon responding, rescue crews extricated the 66-year-old female victim from underneath the Jeep and rushed her to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
At this time, authorities do not have an update on her condition nor an explanation of what led to the crash. However, authorities have ruled out DUI.
