6 Hospitalized in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 1 in Vandenberg Village
VANDENBERG VILLAGE, CA (November 25, 2024) — Six people suffered a range of injuries in a multi-car accident on Highway 1 near Santa Lucia Canyon Road on Thursday.
According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the multi-car crash involved four vehicles around 5:00 p.m. For unknown reasons, the four cars crashed near the Santa Lucia Canyon Road off-ramp, drawing three ambulances and a CalStar Medical helicopter to the scene.
Subsequently, paramedics airlifted one patient with major injuries to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and four others were taken by ground ambulance to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria. Paramedics took the fifth patient to Lompoc Valley Medical Center.
In total, three people suffered critical injuries, one had moderate injuries and two had minor injuries.
Authorities did not explain what caused the accident, but they are looking further into the possibilities.
