4 Firefighters Hospitalized, 2 Fire Trucks Crash at 20th Street in Oakland

 
OAKLAND, CA (July 18, 2022) — Four firefighters were injured after two fire trucks crashed at 20th Street and Broadway Sunday.
 
According to Oakland Fire Department officials, the two-vehicle accident happened around 8:00 a.m. For unknown reasons, two Oakland fire department ladder trucks crashed while responding to a fire in a former Pacific Gas & Electric building.
 
As a result of the collision, four firefighters suffered minor injuries, two of whom required hospitalization before being released.
 
After the accident, the firefighters responded to the blaze to find one person squatting in the building, but uninjured. Fortunately, 20 firefighters brought the blaze under control.
 
At this time, investigators have not confirmed the leading cause of the crash or what caused the fire. However, we will update this report once we receive more information.
