3 People Hurt in Multi-Car Crash on 80 Freeway in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, CA (August 8, 2022) — Three people were injured in a multi-car accident on the 80 Freeway near Air Base Parkway.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the multi-vehicle accident which involved five cars happened around 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. For unknown reasons, a slowdown occurred and left a 2015 Freightliner driver unable to stop before traffic ahead. As a result, the driver swerved and struck a curb which broke an axle.

The semi-rig subsequently jackknifed across the lanes and crashed into four other vehicles: a 2017 Toyota Camry, 2012 Mercedes-Benz, 2010 Mercedes-Benz and a 2006 Toyota Highlander.

As a result of the crash, three people suffered minor injuries including two who sought care at NorthBay Medical Center or complains of pain and lacerations. A third person was brought to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville.

At this time, authorities have not confirmed what drove the accident. However, an ongoing investigation should confirm the details.
