3 Killed, Marcia Luqueleyson Arrested in Head-On Accident on Weedpatch Highway [Bakersfield, CA]

CHP Arrest Marcia Luqueleyson on Suspicion of DUI after Fatal Head-On Crash

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 29, 2021) – Three people died and police arrested Marcia Luqueleyson for DUI after head-on crash in Bakersfield early Friday morning.
 
The fatal crash happened just before 2:30 a.m. on November 26 at the intersection of Weedpatch Highway and Smith Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 38-year-old suspect from Lamont was driving a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee in the southbound lane of the highway. At the same time, a 58-year-old man was driving a 2005 Toyota Corolla northbound.
 
For unknown reasons, Luqueleyson crossed the solid yellow line into the northbound traffic. She then collided head-on with the Corolla.
 
As a result, the driver of the Corolla suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The two passengers in Luqueleyson’s vehicle, a 31-year-old woman and a man, were also killed.
 
The Kern County Coroner’s Office will release the identities of the victims once their families are properly notified.
 
Meanwhile, Luqueleyson sustained serious injuries and was taken to Kern Medical. Officers determined she was under the influence of alcohol and she was detained.
 
At this time, the crash is still under investigation.
