Car Crashes into Girl Scout Cookie Stand in Granite Bay Injuring 3 People, DUI Suspect Arrested

 
GRANITE BAY, CA (March 1, 2023) – Three people were injured and police arrested Gary L. Benson after a DUI crash in Granite Bay Saturday afternoon on February 25.
 
The crash happened just before 4:00 p.m. at the entrance of the Walmart on Douglas Boulevard at Sierra College Boulevard. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 69-year-old suspect from Cameron Park was driving a Tesla when he crashed into a Girl Scout cookie stand outside of Walmart.
 
Two minors and a 76-year-old woman who were standing outside were struck. The minors, two girls ages 9 and 10, had moderate injuries and the woman had major injuries. All three of them were taken to a hospital.
 
Police arrested Benson for driving under the influence of alcohol. They booked him into the Placer County Jail for felony DUI charges.
 
Further investigation is underway.
