Two 17-Year-Old Oak Park Teenagers Suffer Serious Injuries after Hit by Car near Kanan Road
OAK PARK, CA (September 15, 2022) – Two 17-year-old Oak Park teenagers were seriously injured in a pedestrian accident near Kanan Road and Smoke Tree Avenue on Sunday evening.
The accident happened shortly after 7:45 p.m. on September 11. The site is in the unincorporated Oak Park community east of Thousand Oaks. According to the Ventura County Fire Department, a 2005 Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on Kanan Avenue toward Smoke Tree Avenue.
The driver, a 71-year-old Palmdale woman, was heading about 40 mph when she did not stop at the red light. She then hit the two teenage girls as they were crossing the street.
First responders found the teens lying in the street with serious injuries. They transported both to Los Robles Medical Center for treatment.
Meanwhile, the driver was unharmed. She remained on scene and cooperated with authorities.
No arrests were made at this time and alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors. An investigation is underway.
