2 Hit, Hospitalized by Car at Bus Stop on San Pedro Street in Downtown Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, CA (June 13, 2023) — Two pedestrians were hit and injured by a driver at a bus stop on San Pedro Street near 9th Street.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the pedestrian accident happened around 9:30 a.m. Saturday. For unclear reasons, a driver of an unknown make and model lost control of the vehicle. Subsequently, the large pickup truck jumped a curb, slammed into a bus stop and flattened a fence in the LA Flower District of downtown Los Angeles.
A 14-year-old girl and a 50-year-old woman waiting for a bus at the time of the crash suffered critical injuries. While paramedics brought the pair to a hospital for care, the driver, who traffic investigators believe suffered an unspecified medical emergency before the crash, stayed at the scene.
It’s unclear if the driver suffered an injury during the accident. Although, we will update this report once we receive more information.
Accidents happen, which is why we call them accidents. However, we can lessen the risks of causing one or being involved in one. If you are unfit to drive, leave the driving to someone else. Pedestrians must be vigilant of their surroundings and watch out for reckless motorists.
