18-Year-Old Madeline Ortiz Charged, 12-Year-Old Hospitalized in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash at Newhope Street and McFadden Avenue

 
SANTA ANA, CA (October 19, 2023)Madeline Ortiz faces charges following Wednesday’s hit-and-run pedestrian accident at New Hope Street and McFadden Avenue.
 
According to Santa Ana Police, the hit-and-run happened around 8:00 a.m. while the 12-year-old was walking near Fitz Intermediate Language Academy. For an unknown reason, 18-year-old Madeline Ortiz did not pull over after hitting the child who was walking to school.
 
Soon after, paramedics responded to the scene and rushed the victim to a hospital in critical condition. As of Wednesday, she was listed in stable condition following surgery.
 
As for Ortiz, police located her blue four-door sedan at a residence of interest and arrested her around 9:00 p.m., booking her for felony hit and run.
