Police Arrest Couple in Connect with Deadly Hit-and-Run Crash in Pittsburg

 
PITTSBURG, CA (March 20, 2023) – Police arrested Roberto Sainez and Vanessa Landeros in a hit-and-run crash that killed a 17-year-old girl in Pittsburg.
 
Just before 7:15 p.m. on March 7, officers responded to the area of Stoneman Avenue and Briarcliff Drive after receiving a report of an injured person in the roadway. Upon arrival, they discovered the female teen lying in the street, suffering from injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle.
 
Officers immediately began providing medical aid, and the teenager was transported by medical staff to an area hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
 
A preliminary investigation revealed that the teen was walking toward Pittsburg’s Golden Gate School within the fully marked crosswalk. As she crossed into the westbound lanes of traffic, the vehicle struck her and fled the scene.
 
Police later found and arrested the couple in the 3000 block of Gladstone Drive.
 
Sainez, 34, was the driver of the vehicle. He faces felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter charges. Police also arrested his 30-year-old fiancé, Vanessa Landeros, as an accessory after the fact and destroying or concealing evidence charges.
