1 Dead in Motorcycle Crash on 5 Freeway in Chula Vista

 
CHULA VISTA, CA (April 22, 2024) — One person died in a motorcycle accident on the 5 Freeway near Main Street.
 
According to reports, the fatal motorcycle crash happened around 3:00 a.m. Saturday. Under unclear circumstances, a driver collided with a motorcyclist who was ejected from the motorcycle and onto the road. Subsequently, officers responded to the scene and found the rider with fatal injuries. Due to the deadly crash, California Highway Patrol officers closed the northbound I-5 on-ramp for about one hour to investigate.
 
However, while assessing the crash, a man showed up in a vehicle with heavy front-end damage. Reports detailed that the driver might have been the person who struck the motorcyclist.
