FORTUNA, CA (November 11, 2024) — One person died in a motorcycle accident on Highway 101 near Main Street.
 
According to the Fortuna Police Department, the deadly motorcycle crash happened around 12:04 p.m. Sunday. Under unclear circumstances, a motorcycle crashed on Highway 101 North near the Main Street off-ramp. Subsequently, emergency responders received notification of the report and arrived soon after to find a woman with significant injuries and another person with fatal wounds.
 
Officials did not elaborate on the fatal victim.
 
Callers reported seeing two people down, including one in the No. 1 northbound lane. Due to the crash, officers reopened one lane to allow traffic to flow while emergency crews cared for the injured.
