1 Man Killed in Sutter County Head-On Crash on Highway 99

 
SUTTER COUNTY, CA (January 17, 2022) — One man died in a head-on accident on Highway 99 near Nicolaus Avenue on Sunday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal two-vehicle crash happened around 2:00 a.m. For unknown reasons, a 60-year-old man driving a 2017 Dodge 3500 southbound in the northbound lane of the highway collided with a northbound 2010 Honda Accord.
 
As a result of a crash, the 24-year-old Chico man operating the Honda died due to his severe injuries. Authorities have not released his name.
 
Meanwhile, the 60-year-old man from San Jacinto suffered major injuries.
 
At this time, it is unclear what contributed to the cause of this head-on accident. However, CHP officers believe heavy foggy conditions may have factored into the accident.
