Head-On Accident on Highway 20 in Colusa County Kills 1, 4 Airlifted
COLUSA COUNTY, CA (July 13, 2021) – One person died and four others sustained injuries in a head-on accident on Highway 20 in Colusa County Sunday evening.
The accident happened just after 7:00 p.m. near Highway 16. According to the California Highway Patrol, a man was driving westbound on Highway 20 when he swerved over the yellow lines into the eastbound lane. Another car carrying four people heading eastbound was unable to avoid the collision. The two vehicles collided head-on.
As a result, the westbound driver died at the scene.
Paramedics airlifted the four occupants in the other vehicle to Sacramento and Vacaville hospitals with unspecified injuries. Some of the patients were children.
CHP officials said alcohol or drugs may have been a factor in the crash.
At this time, this fatal accident remains under investigation.
