Street Race Accident on Sierra Avenue in Jurupa Valley Ends in Fatality
JURUPA VALLEY, CA (July 3, 2022) – One person died and another was seriously injured in a street race accident on Sierra Avenue on Saturday night, July 2.
The accident happened around 10:20 p.m. at Karen Lane. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, a 2001 Lexus car and another vehicle were street racing on Sierra Avenue when the Lexus lost control. It then crossed over into oncoming traffic and struck a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado.
The impact caused both Lexus and Silverado to burst into flames.
The unidentified driver of the Lexus died at the scene.
Paramedics rushed the driver of the Silverado to a hospital for treatment of burns and other injuries.
Meanwhile, the driver of the other vehicle that was racing, a 19-year-old man, remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation. He was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center to await charges for gross vehicular manslaughter.
