High-Speed Pursuit on Central Avenue in Ceres Kills Two

 
CERES, CA (July 20, 2021) – One person died and another sustained serious injuries after a high-speed pursuit on Central Avenue in Ceres Saturday night.
 
The fatal crash happened around 6:05 p.m. on July 17, near Hatch Road. According to the Ceres Police Department, officers tried pulling over a silver Volkswagen Beetle near Central and Herndon avenues. The driver did not stop and sped off at high speed, prompting a pursuit.
 
As the driver was heading northbound on Central Avenue toward Hatch Road, they lost control and crashed into a big rig. The car was lodged underneath the big rig.
 
Firefighters extricated two people from outside the car. Despite life-saving measures, the driver died at the scene. Paramedics transported the passenger to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
