1 Hurt in Multi-Car Accident on Highway 99 in Fresno

 
FRESNO, CA (February 13, 2024) — One person was injured in a multi-car accident involving a big rig on Highway 99 near Chestnut Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the multi-car crash happened around 11:00 a.m. Monday. For an unknown reason, a driver of an SUV was traveling too fast for traffic conditions that it clipped the back of a big rig as the SUV tried to switch to the middle lane. Upon impact, the vehicle spun out and overturned.
 
Subsequently, the overturned vehicle struck two other vehicles, involving a total of six people in the collision.
 
Soon after, paramedics responded and took one person to a hospital for treatment.
 
Officials did not say if distracted driving, speeding or impairment factored into the cause of the multi-car accident. However, we will release an update once we get further details.
