Driver Seriously Injured after Police Chase Accident on Chatsworth Street near De Soto Avenue
CHATSWORTH, CA (March 17, 2022) – Authorities arrested two suspects following a police chase accident on Chatsworth Street, early Wednesday morning.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident happened on March 16, at about 12:40 a.m. Officers attempted to pull over a BMW on the 405 Freeway on suspicion of drunk driving.
When the driver refused the stop, a high-speed chase began near westbound 118 Freeway. Officers later stopped the chase, while a police chopper continued to follow the fleeing BMW.
A few minutes later, the BMW collided with two more vehicles near the intersection of Chatsworth Street and De Soto Avenue.
The impact of the collision caused one vehicle to crash into a lawn of a church. Responders freed the trapped driver and transported the victim to a hospital.
As per reports, the driver of the BMW and a male passenger attempted to flee the scene on foot. However, officers were able to detain the suspects. Emergency crews also transported the suspects to a hospital for evaluation.
The third driver did not sustain injuries.
LAPD continues to investigate the accident.
When pulled over, slow down and patiently wait for further instructions. Cooperate and do not attempt to flee the scene.
