Rider Killed After Motorcycle Hits Bix Truck on Highway 4 in San Joaquin County
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CA (July 1, 2024) — One person died after a motorcycle crashed into a box truck on Highway 4 near Gillis Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal two-vehicle crash happened around 5:08 p.m. Friday. In an attempt to pass traffic, a 44-year-old Farmington man operating a motorcycle crossed over the double yellow lines. Subsequently, his 2021 Kawasaki 400, traveling at 55 mph, struck the left side of a box truck turning left onto Gillis Road.
Soon after, CHP officers responded but the motorcyclist, whose name was not released, passed away from severe injuries. The box truck driver appeared unscathed.
Authorities did not confirm if alcohol or drugs factored into the cause. However, they will look into this incident further.
