2 Seriously Hurt After Van Nuys Street Racing Ends in Multi-Car Crash near Sherman Circle
VAN NUYS, CA (November 11, 2024) — Two people suffered critical injuries in a street race multi-car accident near Sherman Circle and Sherman Way Friday night.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the multi-cart crash happened around 10:30 p.m. near 14561 West Sherman Circle. Detectives learned that a driver of a Mercedes was racing a driver of a Rolls-Royce on Sherman Way. Subsequently, the two westbound vehicles, barreling down Sherman Way, crashed. The Mercedes struck a Honda turning left into a parking lot while the Rolls-Royce hit an oncoming Chery while evading striking the Honda.
Minutes later, police and paramedics responded but the Rolls-Royce driver left on foot. Officers arrested the Mercedes-Benz driver who reported minor injuries while paramedics brought two people with critical injuries to a hospital. Reports described them as residents of Panorama City.
