65-Year-Old Woman Dies after Two Vehicles Collide in Fresno County
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (March 6, 2024) – Elida Fernandez was killed in a two-vehicle accident in Fresno County Tuesday morning on March 4.
The fatal accident happened around 11:15 a.m. on Dickenson Avenue near Barstow Avenue. According to the CHP, Fernandez was driving a 2002 Hyundai Sonata south on Dickenson Avenue while approaching an intersection and a stop sign.
Fernandez failed to stop and collided with a 2022 GMC Sierra, driven by a 45-year-old Fresno man going west without a stop sign.
After the crash, the Sonata overturned and landed on its roof. Both vehicles also sustained major damage.
Fernandez suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. She was a 65-year-old Fresno resident, according to the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.
Meanwhile, the man driving the Sierra had minor injuries.
Officers do not believe drugs or alcohol was a factor. The crash remains under investigation.
