Bicyclist Dies after Crash with Car on South Union Avenue in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (September 24, 2023) – A woman was killed in a bicycle accident on South Union Avenue in southeast Bakersfield Tuesday morning on September 19.
The fatal accident happened around 6:15 a.m. near Garden Drive. According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman was riding her bike when she crossed northbound on South Union Avenue directly into the path of a Toyota Corolla.
The Corolla then struck the bicycle, killing the woman.
Authorities only identified the woman as a 39-year-old Bakersfield resident.
Alcohol, drugs, and speed were not a factor in this crash. Anyone with further information is asked to contact the Bakersfield Area Public Information officer at 661-396-6600.
