Courteney Taylor and Amaya Taylor Killed in DUI Crash on 15 Freeway [Fallbrook, CA]

Mother and 4-Year-Old Girl Die after Struck Head-On by DUI Driver in Fallbrook

 
FALLBROOK, CA (April 25, 2023) – Courteney Taylor and Amaya Taylor died in a DUI crash in Fallbrook Sunday afternoon on April 23.
 
The fatal crash happened around 3:13 p.m. on southbound 15 Freeway, just north of Highway 76. According to the California Highway Patrol, 29-year-old Courteney Taylor of San Marcos was driving a 2017 Kia Forte sedan southbound with her 4-year-old daughter Amaya in the rear passenger seat.
 
A black 2021 Toyota Tacoma, driven by 23-year-old Erick Arambula, veered onto the right shoulder and slammed into a chain link fence. It then traveled down an embankment and collided head-on with the Kia and a white Tesla 3.
 
As a result of the crash, both Courteney and her daughter died at the scene.
 
The Tesla driver and their two passengers had minor injuries.
 
Arambula suffered major injuries. Police later arrested him on suspicion of felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter.

An investigation into this crash is ongoing.
