Chemical Spill, Pool Maintenance Vehicle, Car Crash at Claydelle Avenue in El Cajon

 
EL CAJON, CA (March 28, 2023) — A HazMat team responded to a chemical spill when a pool maintenance truck and a car collided in an accident at Claydelle Avenue near Lexington Avenue.
 
According to reports, the two-vehicle crash happened around 2:00 p.m. Saturday. For unknown reasons, a car and a pool maintenance truck crashed at the intersection, causing about five gallons of pool acid and two gallons of chlorine to spill in the back of the truck. Fortunately, Heartland Fire and Rescue responded to the scene to contain this spill.
 
Crews were able to contain the chemicals from leaking into the sewer systems and drains.
 
The Heartland Fire & Rescue battalion chief issued a shelter-in-place order, and paramedics took one person to Grossmont Hospital for treatment.
