Deputy, Driver Hospitalized in DUI Crash at Washington Boulevard in Commerce

COMMERCE, CA (March 28, 2023) — A deputy and a driver were injured in a DUI accident at Washington Boulevard and Telegraph Road.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office, the two-vehicle crash happened around 1:30 a.m. Monday. For DUI-related reasons, a driver allegedly struck a deputy vehicle at the intersection.

Deputies in the east LA station received a call for backup around that time and responded to the intersection. Upon arriving, they found a disabled vehicle with an injured occupant and a deputy with injuries.

Paramedics brought the injured driver to the hospital for care and the deputy received care at the scene for minor injuries.

Traffic investigators believe DUI might have played a factor in the accident, but an ongoing investigation should confirm more details about the crash.
