Police Arrest Wrong-Way Driver for DUI after Three-Car Crash on 880 Freeway in Oakland

 
OAKLAND, CA (March 22, 2023) – A wrong-way driver was arrested for DUI after a three-car crash on 880 Freeway in Oakland early Friday evening on March 17.
 
The crash happened around 6:09 p.m. at the High Street off-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 45-year-old man was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of the freeway when he collided with two vehicles.
 
As a result, the wrong-way driver and the driver of the second vehicle suffered unspecified injuries. The third driver was unharmed.
 
Police later arrested the wrong-way driver on suspicion of driving under the influence.
 
Further investigation is underway.
