66-Year-Old Esperanza Arinag Killed in Head-On Crash on Highway 126 near Cavin Road
FILLMORE, CA (March 2, 2023) — Esperanza Arinag died in Monday’s two-car accident on Highway 126 near Cavin Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the head-on collision happened around 10:15 a.m. For an unknown reason, a 64-year-old man operating a 2000 Mercury veered from the eastbound to the westbound traffic. As a result, the Mercury struck a westbound 2013 BMW head-on.
Shortly after, paramedics arrived and found a 66-year-old Palmdale woman in the passenger seat of the Mercury. The woman, later identified by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office as 66-year-old Esperanza Arinaga, passed away at the scene. The man driving the Mercury was taken to Ventura County Medical Center with major injuries.
As for the 24-year-old Valencia woman driving the BMW, firefighters pulled her from the car and treated her at the scene before taking her to a county medical center with major injuries, as well.
Traffic investigators did not say if alcohol played a factor in the accident, but an ongoing investigation should confirm the details.
Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends of Esperanza Arinag.
