DUI Suspect Fatally Strikes Man on San Mateo-Hayward Bridge

 
SAN MATEO, CA (December 14, 2022) – A man died in a DUI crash on San Mateo-Hayward Bridge late Saturday evening.
 
The fatal crash happened around 11:45 p.m. on December 10. According to the California Highway Patrol, the suspected drunken driver slammed his black Cadillac Escalade into a man who had gotten out of a black Hyundai Elantra that was in an earlier non-injury crash on the eastbound lanes of the bridge.
 
Paramedics rushed the man to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
 
The driver of the Cadillac and his female passenger were also taken to Stanford Hospital with serious injuries.
 
Police later arrested the driver of the Cadillac on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
 
Further investigation is underway.
