Speeding Car Rear-Ends Big Rig on Highway 99 in Bakersfield Badly Injuring the Driver

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 31, 2022) – A man was seriously injured in a rear-end accident on Highway 99 in Bakersfield on Friday morning, October 8.
 
The accident happened around 11:43 a.m. just north of Highway 166. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving a 2023 Kia Forte northbound on Highway 99 at a high rate of speed when he rear-ended a 2015 Kenworth semi trailer.
 
As a result of the crash, the driver of the Kia suffered major injuries. He was airlifted to Kern Medical in an unknown condition.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the big rig had to be extricated from his truck.
 
CHP officers are still investigating whether drugs and alcohol played any role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
